Aguamiel and Desert Trade

Desert Trade x Aguamiel

Event menu design

For Aguamiel’s ceremonial dinner at Desert Trade (a cultural events producer in the Hi-Desert around Joshua Tree, CA), I was commissioned to create a menu design that reflected the gathering’s themes of gratitude, nourishment, and connection through ritual practices.

The illustration tells the story of Mayahuel, the goddess (or teotl) related to agave and mezcal, whose story speaks symbolically about the importance of reciprocity between humans and the Earth. I worked with the chefs at Aguamiel to create a design that would serve as a symbolic complement to the their four-course feast celebrating Oaxacan culture and gastronomy.
