Navigating U.S. Healthcare

In 2022, I worked with rpya.health and a local immigration advocate to help undocumented Californians understand their rights and options ahead of the state’s historic 2023 expansion of public healthcare access for all qualified residents—regardless of immigration status.

The campaign aimed to build trust, reduce fear, and reframe healthcare as a collective issue rooted in dignity and community wellbeing.

Project Feature: "A Super Brief Overview of the U.S. Healthcare System" zine

This social media campaign included a zine that explained how to navigate the U.S. healthcare system safely and confidently as an undocumented queer or trans person, although it could benefit any reader. It introduced three empowering approaches to navigating healthcare:

1.

Working from within the system: Understand the system in order to better navigate it.

2.

Working without the system: Developing critical thinking to create pressures that lead to positive change.

3.

Working outside the system: Learning to see things like traditional and community-based healing as integral to health.
